Flower Child Health is about learning how to ignore the voice of conventional society that masks the vulgar effects of things like sugar on our bodies, and preaches “calories in, calories out” as a way to stay healthy. The best way to do this is for us to educate ourselves and take back control over what we put in your bodies.
I am currently enrolled in the Academy of Culinary Nutrition, Culinary Nutrition Expert Program. One of the initial assignments was to document our Food Philosophy. I enjoyed putting this together and thought I would share it with you all! Here it is.
No health washing – Ignore packaging and health food trends. Instead, focus on the ingredient list and make decisions based on what you know.
Eat local and seasonally – Shop at farmers’ markets and local suppliers. Get to know where your food comes from and who is responsible for it.
Be aware of your body – Eat food that makes you feel good and stay aware of what has negative effects on your health and mood. Replace dogmatic diets with an awareness of what your body needs.
Healthy indulgence – Choose foods that you love, and that make you feel good. Take the time to prepare delicious food and pause to enjoy it. Healthy eating does not mean giving up on great food.
